When it comes to home decor, you know this lady loves to keep it as neutral as possible. So when it comes to decorating for fall, the same rules usually apply.
Last year I did get brave and used more traditional fall colors and lots of orange pumpkins in my fall decor. But this year – I’m going back to my love for neutrals!
I do love shopping for fresh pumpkins at Trader Joe’s because they have a great selection of pumpkins in neutral colors and their prices are so reasonable. But I realize – not everyone has a Trader Joe’s in their town.
And yes, I know it’s still hot outside. But I feel it’s never too early to grab seasonal merchandise! The prettiest, most sought after items in retail always sell out fast, so now is the time to shop for pumpkins!

Faux Pumpkins VS Real Pumpkins
So when it comes to shopping for pumpkins, is faux or real pumpkins the better purchase? Well, let’s break down the pros and cons of each.
Faux Pumpkins
- Can be a little more expensive at first, but budget friendly over time if you normally buy real pumpkins every fall season
- Require less time and energy to replace
- Won’t attract wildlife
- Can be recycled year after year
Real Pumpkins
- Inexpensive in the beginning but cost more that faux pumpkins collectively over time
- Require more time and energy to replace than faux pumpkins
- Edible for wildlife
- Can not be recycled for the next year
Personally, I like to do a little of both. I mix faux with my real pumpkins to keep my cost and hassle relatively low. Plus a few unique real pumpkins to the mix really helps to create a more realistic look.
Affordable Neutral and White Pumpkin Decor
Over the years, I’ve managed to gather up a great collection for easy fall decorating and diy projects.
I love being able to shop my home if I don’t want to spend a dime on any fresh pumpkins. Such a great alternative for fall decorating on a budget!
I also love neutral colored pumpkins because they can be used for not only fall decorating, but also for Halloween pumpkin decor, and even for Thanksgiving dinner.
And neutral colored pumpkins are great for complimenting more traditional fall colored decor (like orange) as well!
If you are a neutral lover like me, I think you are gonna love the collection of pumpkins I have found. And their amazingly low prices as well!
Some are ceramic painted pumpkins, velvet pumpkins, and some are made of more natural elements like rattan and some are made from wood or metal. I may even shop a few myself to add to my collection. 😉

My Favorite Ways To Decorate With Neutral Pumpkins
So now that I’ve shown you some of my favorite neutral and white pumpkin decor, I thought I’d share my decorating style and some of my favorite ways I’ve used them in my home for seasonal decor.
In the basement last year, I used several dark rattan pumpkins on the wall shelves along with a wreath top with small white pumpkins.
I also used several faux pumpkins when I created a super easy pumpkin fall centerpiece for our dining room several years ago. This large pumpkin centerpiece created such a beautiful fall focal point for our dining table!
My front porch has seen lots of neutral pumpkin decor over the years. One year I decided to decorate with plum mums, so to compliment that bold color I shopped my home collection of large white pumpkins. Love how the outdoor decor came together around our front door!
