Easy Fall Decorating in the Basement

| |

It’s officially fall home tour season! So I’m starting with easy fall decorating in the basement area. Come see how a few simple additions added a warm, cozy feel to this room!

Yesterday the temps were cooler and it drizzled rain off and on all day. It felt so much like fall! So to be sharing my first fall home tour of the season today feels so fitting! 🙂 I’m keeping it simple this year with easy fall decorating anyone can do!

Once again, I’m very honored to be joining my friend, Marty from the A Stroll Thur Life and so many other talented bloggers for the official start of the fall home tours season. If you are visiting from her tour, welcome and I’m so glad you stopped by!

Our fall home tour is starting in a place in our home that went unused for many years, until I updated the space last year. Now we are all down there almost every single day. So I thought the basement would be the perfect place to start adding some cozy, fall touches. This post may contain affiliate links.

Simple Fall Touches in the Basement Lounge Area

Our lounge area is where we love to hang out and watch a movie or the season finale of Ted Lasso. Have you seen that show? If not, I highly recommend it – such feel good tv!

My plan for this space was to mostly shop our home to add a few cozy items. So I gathered up a couple of moss velvet pillows, a cozy throw and few real pumpkins. The pumpkins I had to buy cause yea – I don’t have a pumpkin patch in my house. 😉

I know in my design board for this room, I originally featured a black coffee table. But at the last minute I decided to move some items around. So the coffee table is upstairs in the living room and I moved these leather ottomans down here from our bedroom.

I think they are a nice addition because they compliment the leather chairs over in the desk area of the room (which I’ll share in a minute). And the warm leather color just feels more fallish. So I think they will be staying here for awhile. 🙂

This next picture represents exactly how I want to bring fall into our home. A couple of cozy pillows, a soft snuggly throw and a few pumpkins. It’s simple, seasonal but it’s not in-your-face fall decorating.

More Fall Decorating in the Basement Desk Area

Now, let’s move over to the desk area of the room. This is where my boys were homeschooling last year. Now they are both back in school and this area of our home is a lot quieter now.

But they still come down here to unwind after school and play a few games on the computer. So I’m still grateful we have this unique area set up in our home. It may not be ideal for everyone, but it works for us!

To keep the actual desk top area clean and uncluttered, I decided to just add a few fall decorating items to the wall shelves.

So for the shelves on the left, I purchased a new wall frame and then added a beautiful fall print. Then I grabbed an old fall pumpkin wreath and a grapevine pumpkin to complete the seasonal look here.

For the shelves on the right side of the room, I added the same frame with a another fall print from this collection. And then one more grapevine pumpkin. These fall decorations were so simple but for me, enough to say fall has arrived.

After I finished decorating the shelves, I stopped, took a step back and looked the room over. I felt the basement had a nice balance of fall decorations, so that’s all I decided to add.

So I hope this tour gave you some inspiration and easy ways you can add fall to your home. If you love going ‘all out’ for fall – go for it! But don’t feel if you keep the decor simple, you’ll be missing out. Every time I visit our basement now, I sense the coziness of fall in this space. So those little details can really change the way a room is perceived! 🙂
