Clothing is often very hard to part with so even after decluttering and reorganizing, you’ll probably end up hanging onto items that you should’ve tossed. So as you organize your clothing in your closet, try the “backwards hanger” trick to weed out any other items.

Start your clean, decluttered closet with all the hangers’ tips facing the front of the closet (backwards). After you wear something, put it away with the hanger facing the back of the closet. Then at the end of this year, you’ll be able to easily identify the clothes that you don’t love/wear and aren’t worth hanging onto any longer.

  1. I already do some of these suggestions, but unless one has a bigger kitchen, some are not practical. I have to hang all my pots, pans, and lids on a hanging pot rack because there’s no room to put them in a cabinet like the photo. Also, there’s no drawer for all my spices and teas. I have them on a couple of turntables. One idea that’s not here is to install a shelf over the bathroom door. This is where I store all the extra rolls of toilet paper, containers of wipes, and small towels. No room elsewhere in the bathroom.
