Our family loves to hang out on the backyard deck all summer long. And when fall arrives, we often head indoors. But why? That’s so crazy because fall is when the weather outdoors is sooooo beautiful. So this year, for the first time ever, I decided to update the backyard deck for fall. And all of this easy outdoor fall decorating took me only about an hour to create!
Fall Outdoor Decorating with Planters
Keeping with my fall decorating design board ideas, I incorporated lots of warm colors with my mum and pumpkin choices. All the plants in my tall planters basically died with our cooler night temps. So I pulled them all out and inserted these oversized mums. How’s that for an instant pop of fall color?! 🙂
My wall potted flowers also died. So I decided to place some mini pumpkins up here instead of more flowers. I think it turned out kinda cute!
Outdoor Decorating with Cozy Textiles
You may have noticed that I switched out the rug for a more neutral black and white style. I think this rug adds a stronger contrast to the seating area and a more fall look. Plus it really compliments the warmer fall color accents too!
On the double bench I added a soft, cozy orange throw. This one accessory gives this outdoor seating area an immediate cozier feel. The warm color, just a fun bonus! 🙂
Fall Outdoor Dining Decor
The backyard deck dining area also got a few new fall accessories. A couple of mini mums and some scattered pumpkins is all this space needed.
The real trick to making outdoor spaces feel extra cozy is candle light. Or at least, it does the trick for me! 😉
And surprise – look who decided to make an appearance: Charlie and Winston! Charlie’s dark coat makes it so hard to capture her eyes in pictures. And poor Winston, well he desperately need a haircut!
All the groomers in town are so busy, we have to schedule appointments like 2-3 months out. So he’s been patiently waiting and he’s very close to getting his day in the doggy salon. 🙂

Great to show a different rug out on your deck but it’s an indoor rug which most of us can’t use ☹️
Hi Sue! It is an indoor rug but I’m willing to risk it for just the short month or less it will be outside. Three years ago, I placed it on my front porch for months and it actually held up really well – still looks brand new! 🙂
