Fall Decorating with Floral and Pumpkins
Fall decorating made easy with pretty floral and classic pumpkins!
Last week we started this four-part series off with talking all about fall textiles. Today I’m back sharing two of my favorite fall decorating items: floral and pumpkins. This fun fall design series, hosted by Ashley at Cherished Bliss, also includes three other fabulous ladies! So be sure to check out their favorite fall decorating tips at the end of this post.
Floral Ideas When Fall Decorating
When it comes to floral decorating, I definitely have a few favorite go-to’s! Although not necessary called a fall flower, I think roses when combined with a pumpkins can absolutely feel fall-ish. I created this lovely pumpkin centerpiece (find the tutorial HERE ) for a delicious fall menu last year. The white roses do a lovely job complimenting the whole arrangement.
Another flower I love to decorate with is the ranunculus. In this Fall Eucalyptus arrangement, the ranunculus are really the star of the whole bouquet. I did vary them in size for a little contrast. But guess what? These flowers are actually fake! See how I created this Fall Floral Centerpiece HERE.
Chrysanthemums (or what I like to call mums) of course, are another fall favorite of mine. They offer a ton of fullness and the color variety is pretty nice too! I’ve decorated my home with both white and plum colors. You can see my plum porch decor from a couple years back HERE.
The outdoors is obviously where you find mums most often but I’ve even brought mine inside! One year I added a fun plum mum to my dining room decor as well. It was the perfect pop of color for this room! So don’t limit mums to just outside displays. 🙂
Pumpkin Ideas When Fall Decorating
Now let me just say this disclaimer first: you don’t have to place one single pumpkin in your home to have a very cozy, fall feeling throughout your house. Not one. Having said that, I usually can never resist. I love decorating with pumpkins! I’ve collected a huge amount of faux pumpkins over the years. Faux pumpkins are great because they can be used for more than one season and in multiple ways.
One of my favorite ways I’ve used faux pumpkins when fall decorating is my pumpkin topiary. This one DIY had everything I love in one display: black and white neutrals, eucalyptus and white pumpkins. To me, this look is classic fall done so elegantly! You can find this super easy topiary tutorial HERE.
You may have noticed that I don’t generally decorate with pumpkins in the traditional orange color. White pumpkins are absolutely my favorite to use throughout my home. Except one year when I decided to go all out in a ombre plum look!
This was a super fun fall decorating project that wasn’t hard at all, it just took some time to paint all the pumpkins. And if plum is not your color – you could try this ombre look with any fall color you love!
As much as I love my faux pumpkins. I’m a sucker for real pumpkins too. And there’s not a year that passes that I don’t visit the local nursery for some to decorate our home. A few years back, I used some real pumpkins to create this beautiful Thanksgiving tablescape.
Even though I love doing a pretty tablescape, I can also use real pumpkins in the most simple ways too. A cake stand with just a touch of eucalyptus and a layered real pumpkin on top is an easy fall decor display.
And last, but definitely not least…
Don’t Skimp on the Eucalyptus
I’m sure you noticed every fall floral and pumpkin decoration I shared also featured eucalyptus. I really think this simple and inexpensive greenery can complete any fall decor. Sometimes I use real because it is so cheap, but I’ve also bought faux as well! This year I even bought some faux wine colored eucalyptus!
