Fall Decorating With Cozy Textiles
Four simple things is all you need when it comes to fall decorating with cozy textiles.
It’s September and that means the fall decorating has begun! One of my favorite reasons I love decorating my home this time of the year is because of all the cozy textiles. If creating a fall feeling in your home seems too complicated or expensive – let me help simplify the whole process. Today I’m sharing four cozy textiles to change when it comes to fall decorating. Make a few simple switches and your home will instantly feel more fall-like. This four-part fall design series, hosted by Ashley at Cherished Bliss, also includes three other fabulous ladies! So be sure to check out their fall textile tips at the end of this post.
Add Cozy Throws
Can a home have too many throws? I think not! 🙂 I generally have a couple of throws in our living room area all year long. But once those cool temperatures of fall arrive, I start adding them to every room in the house. Even the outdoor porch and deck get a throw as seen below in my 2018 fall porch home tour.

Swap Pillow Covers
Another change I make when fall arrives is to switch out most of my pillow covers. I put away the soft linen covers of summer and replace them with warm, rich neutrals in soft, cozy textures like velvet! This pillow combination is also from a years past fall porch home tour.
The classic buffalo check pattern always feels like fall to me!

Layer the Bedding
Another way I use textiles to create a more fall feel in our home is adding more layers to the beds. The boys bunk beds get a couple soft blankets. And our bed may get the same or sometimes I will pull out a warm quilt.
A couple extra blankets layered at the foot of the bed gives a bedroom a cozy feel experience the moment one steps into the room. You can see where I added a soft gray blanket at the foot of our bed in this fall bedroom tour from a couple of years ago.

Lay Rugs Out
And lastly, give your floor a more cozy feel with a simple area rug. For years, the only rug I had in my kitchen was a tiny 2 x 3 rug that laid right by the sink. Now I try to fit the biggest rug I can in this area. 🙂 Not only do I love the style it adds to my kitchen, but it feels so much nicer to bare toes too.
A warm rug is the perfect textile to include in any room! So didn’t shy away from adding a cozy rug to a favorite space in your home.
