Do you have a cube or pouf in your home? I have several and still I’m always wanting to add a few more. The modern furniture cube and pouf has become such a huge home decor trend and for good reason. These small, but yet versatile pieces can nicely squeeze into almost any decor, room or budget. And the best part about them (besides being a fabulous focal point) is how useful they can be as well!
So today I’m going to share with you some of my favorite neutral cube and pouf ideas. I have real home examples of ways to use them and I’m also including some of the best styles you can buy at a variety of different price points.
The Stylish Cube Ottoman
Up first are the extremely stylin’ and useful cube ottomans. These small, pieces are fantastic when paired with large living room furniture.
A perfect way to use a set of cube ottomans is to place them next to coffee table as extra seating (like below). Because they are low, they don’t create any unusual traffic flows or block the view of a television.
Britton loves to sit on ours when he’s watching tv. For him, it’s like his own personal climbing station. But I think he also loves them because they are so easy to move – even for his small size!
And I have to admit, I absolutely love the paired look. To me, when cube ottomans are placed together in sets whether it be in an entryway or at the end of your bed, it instantly creates a very cool look and symmetric feel to the space.
A side table is another great use for a cube! Throw it next to anything from a couch to a tub to a side chair and bring functionality to any cozy corner.
One simple cube can create a landing place for a pop of greenery or a candle making a once unnoticed space feel extra special.

Now let’s chat about comfy, large poufs. Most of them can do all the same functions I mentioned for the cube ottoman, the only difference is they are usually much softer!
A woven round or square pouf is perfect for a basement den, kids’ rooms or even in an outdoor space like the back porch. That’s right, many of the best sellers I discovered are actually outdoor poufs!
Selecting/Shopping Tip:
If you really want to get the most out of your poufs, select a durable design that can be used both indoors and out. Since most cubes and poufs are easy cleaning too, it really doesn’t matter where you place them. That’s why they are the perfect accent piece!
