Basement Art and Game Area & Walmart+
Come see our new basement art and game area!
This post is sponsored by Walmart+.
Our basement has been a very busy place over the past few weeks! Once I finally got the desks set up and the living room area in place, everyone moved right in. 🙂 But there was one more side of the room that still needed to get organized and set up – the art and game area!
So this past week I got a rare opportunity to get down in the basement and get to work with no one using the room since the boys went hiking with the grandparents, Chris was at work and I had the whole house to myself for several hours.
I knew I had to stay focused and work quickly. But as I moved and rearranged, I realized I was missing some items that I wanted to complete the space. No way was I leaving the house right now with this precious alone time! Thankfully, Walmart+ came to my rescue!
Walmart+
If you haven’t heard of Walmart+ yet, let me explain. It’s a new membership to help you save money and time, and add convenience to everyday tasks. Members get free unlimited delivery ($35 minimum, restrictions apply) in as little as same day on all kinds of items that can be purchased in Walmart’s stores. All with the same everyday low prices.
Other benefits include member prices on fuel and mobile scan & go so you can check out with your phone as you shop in-store.
Art Supplies
So I hopped online to Walmart and found all the items I needed to complete our art and game area. Britton loves to draw so I needed to stock up on markers and colored pencil. He’s also a HUGE fan of Play-Doh right now so I had to get some of that as well.
While searching for coloring and drawing supplies, I stumbled upon some washable finger paint. Well, of course I had to add that to my cart too. 🙂 Good thing I did because he had so much fun painting!

We even had fun trying out a new family game – Sorry! Even though we were playing Sorry, we’re actually not sorry at all. 🙂 But during our game someone decided he wanted to cheat. 😉 Bet you can’t guess who!

So now, I can finally show you the third area of the basement all finished. We are ready for all the crafts and games this family can handle!
The table seating area is a great place to do school work, art and crafts and even family games!
Walmart+ was such a lifesaver! It helped me get everything I needed to complete this space and some much needed household supplies at the same time. When I ordered, I also got some milk, cereal, paper towels, snacks for the kids and even a new water filter for our fridge! (The fridge has been beeping at me for weeks to replace it!)
If you want more info about how to get a Walmart+ membership, you can find it all here.
The service pays for itself in just two deliveries (based on the $7.95 delivery fee). And I’ve discovered I save money in the long-run with deliveries anyway because it prevents me from impulse buying. When you see cute items like this plaid rug or gorgeous wreath, you want to add all the things to your cart! 🙂
I definitely wouldn’t have finished this room if I didn’t have the membership to save me hours of time gathering my supplies. 🙂
So, what do you think of our new art and game area? And what’s your favorite family game? We are always on the hunt for something new!
Where did you source the white table and sitting cubes?
Hi Linda, I actually just made a post with all this information: https://inspirationformoms.porch.com/basement-remodel-sources/ Hope that helps! 🙂
