Christmas Decorating Favorites & New Finds

|

Let’s get our homes ready for Christmas by looking back at some Christmas decorating favorites of the past and new finds for this year!

I haven’t officially started decorating for Christmas just yet. Since I was under the weather most of last week, I’ve been a little slow moving. But I’m hoping to start on something this week so I’ve been pulling out the Christmas decor. And it got me thinking maybe you are doing the same and wanting to add some new decor to your collection.

So I sat down and rounded up some of my Christmas decorating favorites that I love to use year after year. Plus I’m going to show you the new items I bought as well! Can’t resist adding a few new items every year. 🙂 I am trying to use mostly what I have though!

Christmas Decor Favorites From Christmases Past

Before I share the new holiday decor, I wanted to show you some of my favorite Christmas decorations from past holiday tours. You never know when buying decorations whether or not it will be a hit or miss. So I’m featuring some of my favorite hits that my favorite retailers have brought back this year.

I’m still so in love with our mini faux pine trees and I can’t wait to get them out of storage. Every year at the end of the season, these trees go on sale. And I buy a couple more. They are so cute and perfect for adding a little soft Christmas glow in any room – even the bathroom!

Here you can see them featured in our dining room as the table centerpiece from our Christmas home in 2019.

Another items I’m glad to see come back this year are my plaid faux fur back pillow covers. I’ve had these for a few years and I love them! They have been all over the house: the living room, our bedroom and even the basement where I featured them last year.

One of my most treasured Christmas decorations is my white ceramic houses collection. I know it seems kinda silly to say I treasure them seeing how they are from the Target dollar bins. But something about them light up at night just makes my heart happy. And great news – the white houses are back at Target this year.

Last year I got really creative and displayed them inside wood lanterns sitting on some snow. I’ve had all of these items for years but never thought to combine them! So glad I finally did – really loved this look in the evenings while we were eating dinner.

New Christmas Decor Finds

So this year I think my Christmas decor is going to be grey and white, with possible accent colors of gold and green. Hoping it looks good in real life as it does in my mind. 🙂 Having said that, I wanted to share some additional Christmas decor finds that could hopefully help inspire your rooms as well!

I grabbed several items from McGee and Co. this year. Two of the items being jingle bells. (I just can’t help myself!) I only order one of the clustered bells and now I’m kinda wishing I would have ordered more! I also ordered some gray wooden garland and I think it’s going to look great with my other white tree decor.

This basket tree collar arrived last week and I love it! Can’t wait to see what it looks like under the tree. 🙂

I also finally bought a nativity set that I’ve had my eye on for years! Since there are so many figures you can add, I just started with the basics this year. So I have the stand, the six piece set which includes Joseph, Mary and Baby Jesus and two of the metal star backdrops. I hope next year to add some angels!

I’m still trying to decide where I want to display it! I’m thinking maybe the entryway. 🙂

Hopefully some of these Christmas decorating favorites from years past (and the new finds as well!) will give you some good inspiration for this year. 🙂

  1. I love the houses inside the lanterns! I have been given some of my mother’s cardboard houses from the 50s and 60s that I’m going to use to decorate inside lanterns this year to showcase them. Thanks for the wonderful idea!
