Summer Home Tour 2021 | Part I

|

It’s June and officially time to kick off the summer home tour season! Come see some simple ways to add summer to your home decor.

Welcome to the first home tour of summer! I’ve teamed up with Krista from The Happy Housie along with 23 other bloggers to share our simple summer home tour decor with you. This is one of my favorite tours to be in and I’m always so grateful to be invited.

I’m so glad you are here! I hope my tour will give you some simple but elegant ways to add the feel of summer throughout your home. So let’s get this summer home tour started with the front porch and then we will move inside. This post contains affiliate links.

Summer on the Front Porch

Welcome to our front porch! This year I decided to go for a fun but rich navy blue feeling for summer. And it only took me a few new additions to achieve this look.

Front Door Summer Decor

The first new item (I’m sure you’re noticing right away) is my navy and white striped rug. When I ordered this rug, it appeared to have a darker navy look. So when it arrived, I was surprised that it was a tad bit lighter in person.

But I think the color actually worked out perfectly with the other blue accessories I had already purchased. So, that was a nice surprise!

Of course, I layered a fun doormat right on top. I love the layering doormat look and I just can’t stop recreating it. Actually, I don’t want to stop! 🙂

If you’re looking to add a new summer layering doormat combo to your front door this year, check out my favorite ones here!

To flank the front door, I picked up a couple of Boston ferns. Inside our home, I can’t keep a fern alive to save my own life. But in the summer months, outside on the front porch, all my ferns flourish!

So I love seeing them on our front porch year after year. And instead of placing them in planters like years past, I decided to use some large baskets.

Did you happen to notice the white flowers peeking out of the centers of the ferns? I’m going to show you how I created this look next week. Stay tuned!

Seating Area Summer Decor

In front of our side porch seating area, I placed a set of three white pots. I stumbled upon these textured ceramic planters one week out shopping at Target and some how they ended up in my cart. 🙂

After my visit to Target, I stopped by a local nursery and found the sweetest flowers for them. I picked up some creeping jenny, alyssum and these lovely supertunia silverberry flowers.

The silverberry not only has a fantastic name but I love how it’s pink is so soft and dainty. It’s just the right amount of color for this neutral color lover!

The side porch looks pretty similar to years past. I did relocate our mini column fire pit from the backyard deck to here and also purchased a few new items as well.

One being this new rug! How fun is the herringbone pattern? It’s small enough to not compete with the stripe rug by the door. But still adds some fun play to this area of the porch.

And of course, I had to add a couple new outdoor pillows too. Just a little pop of blue on the bench helps to tie the whole look together!

My black planter pot is new as well. I thought this would balance the black from the lanterns.

I should have picked a couple of these pots because I just love the texture and color. Another fern for the win here too! 🙂

Now let me bring you inside our home to see the kitchen.

Summer in the Kitchen

My summer decor for the kitchen is pretty simple this year. My fancy new additions to this room where basically some fresh flowers and produce! 🙂

As you may have guessed – no summer kitchen home tour of mine would be complete without flowers. So I created a fun arrangement of white and pink peonies. Can not go wrong with those!

And what’s more summer than a bowl of limes?! The hubby and I have been drinking gin and tonics almost nightly with dinner.

I blame all these evening cocktails on Costco. They have like 5 pound bags of limes for like $4 bucks. So if I buy the lime, we got to due the (drinking) time. Right? 🙂

Speaking of peonies, I even added some to my little kitchen organizing tray. Most people use a cream pitcher for adding milk to their coffee or tea. Me? I think it’s the perfect vessel for two peony flowers! 🙂

And guess what? I even made a special summer treat for the tour today! My Strawberry Shortcake Cupcakes with whipped lemon cream are pretty tasty, if I do say so myself. Actually my mom and sister got to try a couple of cupcakes this past weekend and they loved them just as much as me. 🙂

This delicious treat will make its debut on the blog next week – so be sure to return for this easy summer recipe!
