How to Make an Elegant Peony Eucalyptus Spring Wreath
Bring the new season to your front door with a simple, but elegant peony eucalyptus spring wreath.
My middle name should really be Simple (not Kay) because that’s how I like to live. And that applies to my home decorating too. Clean, simple and neutral are my favorite adjectives for my home decor. When I was thinking about creating a spring wreath for my front door, an idea hit me. Maybe I could take one of my favorite wreaths and add some spring to it for a whole new look? And that’s exactly what I did. So welcome to the story of how to use one wreath for two totally different seasonal looks!
Simple is also the reason why I love joining Krista’s from The Happy Housie for her Seasonal Simplicity tours! So many other talented bloggers are also sharing tons of spring wreath inspiration for you. Be sure to check them out at the end of this post. 🙂
This wreath may look a little familiar, I shared it here last year. Even though I created this wreath for a more holiday look then, it was super easy to transition it into spring. All I needed to add was a touch of my favorite peony flowers to give the eucalyptus wreath a new spring vibe. Isn’t this a genius and thrifty idea?!
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS PEONY EUCALYPTUS SPRING WREATH:
(affiliate links may be included for your convenience)
- one large grapevine wreath (24 inch)
- floral wire
- eight green eucalyptus branches
- four faux eucalyptus branches
- four ice eucalyptus stems
- 5 peony flower stems
First step in creating this spring wreath is to make the base eucalyptus wreath. I didn’t want to repeat those directions, so….
You can find the complete directions to make the eucalyptus wreath on this post by clicking here.
Time for Peonies
Once the eucalyptus wreath is finished, it’s time to add the pretty peony flowers for that special spring touch.
I purchased five stems of peonies to add to my wreath. But I actually think one more stem of four flowers would be perfect. One can never have too many peonies right?!
Cut Flowers
I started but cutting apart the peony flower bunch to make individual flower stems. By separating the flowers, I would then be able to create a nice cluster of flowers on the eucalyptus wreath.
Insert the Peonies
Now it’s time for the pretty peonies! The placement of the peonies started in the middle of the wreath on the right side and I worked my way down towards the bottom center. The insertion of the peonies onto the wreath depended upon the length of the stem. If it was on the short side, I tried to just directly insert the stem end into the wreath. For the longer stemmed flowers, I inserted and then wrapped the stem end around a vine of the wreath to secure.
Hang the Spring Wreath
After I finished inserting all the peonies, the wreath was done! For an extra touch of spring, you could add a pretty ribbon too! But I decided to leave it simple.
I love how it turned out! I think it might even be better than the original wreath. 😉 Probably because I really love the combination of peonies and eucalyptus – such an elegant look.
And like I mentioned earlier, I’ve joined a fabulous group of blogging friends who are also sharing their Spring Wreath DIY as part of the Seasonal Simplicity Spring Series!
