Simple Summer Home Tour – Part II
It’s here – our summer home tour part II. Let me inspire you with simple ways to add the summer season to your home.
Saturday will be the official start of summer! The beauty of each season is to appreciate it’s best feature to the fullest. So I’m going to enjoy as many lazy days on the porch or back deck as I can. It’s my summer mission! So to be outside more, I kept my inside decor very simple this year.
I believe there is beauty in simplicity. So thatโs why I am so honored to join my friend, Krista from the Happy Housie and so many other talented bloggers for this Summer Home tour edition of Seasonal Simplicity. If you are visiting from My 100 Year Old Home, welcome!
The summer decor for our home tour may be simple but it’s full of green! And sometimes less really is more. ๐ So having said that, let’s start the tour off with the front porch. This post may contain affiliate links.
FRONT PORCH
This year I wanted big, fluffy ferns to be the star of the porch. So once I had those, I decided to stay with the green theme and include that color in my throw pillows as well in the seating area.
And those were the only big changes made to the porches decor this summer. The result is a simple porch decor that’s not only comfy but also welcomes my guests beautifully.

Now let’s go inside and take a peek at the kitchen.
KITCHEN
The only big changes to this kitchen this summer is our new roman shades and some fresh flowers.
Iโve never filled my floral vase with this combination of flowers before but Iโm really glad I did. Peonies and tulips both scream summer to me! And added bonus – they fill the kitchen with a lovely pop of color.

Now let’s leave the kitchen and head outside to our backyard deck!
BACKYARD DECK LOUNGE AREA
This years backyard deck decor is very similar to last years because I just love the black and white look so much. Heck, even Charlie goes with the black and white theme…
I did add a few new items out here though – like my throw pillows. One of my favorites being the striped tasseled. They are so soft and who doesn’t love some tassel action?!
The striped lumber pillows are also new. Is stripe pillows with a stripe rug too much stripe? Is that even a thing? If it is, don’t tell me cause I’m so happy with all the stripes. ๐
Another new addition to the backyard deck are these fun wall planters to the side of our house. This little corner was lacking something and I think these planters were the perfect solution. I hung them a few weeks back and it’s been exciting to watch them grow!
BACKYARD DECK DINING AREA
On the other side of the deck is our dining area. I had planned on updating our furniture here because it’s like 14 years old, but most of the items I wanted were out of stock or back-ordered. So I guess that’s on hold until next year or unless some great end-of-the-season sales happen. ๐
I did buy some new hyacinth round placements for the table. They are great for the outdoors because they withstand the weather pretty well. So I often just leave them out here all season long.
Our herb tabletop garden is doing phenomenal! I placed it on the dining room table to help repel the bugs while we are eating. And so far, it seems to be helping a ton. Thank you so much sweet basil and mint for fighting the bug fight for us. ๐
You can read more about my DIY herb tabletop garden by clicking HERE. Our backyard deck is a place we truly love to hang out all summer long. It’s my favorite place to start the day with a cup of coffee and end the day with a nice glass of wine or mojito. ๐

And that’s the full summer home tour! I hope you enjoyed seeing our summer decor and you found some great inspiration. And now be sure to check out the rest of the summer homes linked up in this tour.

Hi Laura!
Where did you get the black barrel basket tables on your back porch? Love them!
Thanks
Hi Debbie! The black stools were purchased at World Market last year. And the sad new is they have been discontinued. They do however have these, which are somewhat similar: https://rstyle.me/+rxRWHkxbtIbyqVEluntwmg Hope that helps! ๐
It all looks so pretty. I especially love your black and white back deck. So lovely!
