Try A Trend: Lamps in the Kitchen

|

Give your kitchen some new light! Lamps in the kitchen is a new trend that is gaining in popularity. Discover what types of lamps are best for this area of your home.

So today I’m adding a new series to explore called ‘Try A Trend’. Hopefully it will be a fun way to discuss some of the latest trends popping up in home decor this year. And to start the series, the first trend I want to chat about is lamps in the kitchen. Have you been seeing them when you scroll though Pinterest or look in home magazines? I have – and I’ve been loving the look!

So I’ve gathered together some of my favorite inspirational photos – or eye candy if you will – to show this new trend in action!

Flanking the Sink

When I found this picture, it immediately stopped me in my scroll. Don’t get me wrong, my eyes were first instantly drawn to those giant, gorgeous windows. But the pair of striking black lamps were a very close second. They compliment the kitchen so well without taking away from the amazing details of the kitchen.

End of the Kitchen Counter

The end of the kitchen counter is a fantastic place to add a lamp. Often this area of the kitchen is further away from a light source. So shining a little extra light in this space is often welcomed.

On the Kitchen Island

If the only extra space you have for a lamp is on the island – I still say go for it! This stylish lamp looks fantastic right on the end of that kitchen island. The only trick part of this option may be hiding the stinking cord. 🙁

Lamps in the Kitchen Corner

‘Nobody puts baby in the corner’, but a lamp – yes! Kitchen corners are the perfect place to add a lamp. The surrounding corner walls or cabinets can also help to bounce the lamp lighting back into the kitchen for a lovely ambiance.

Near the Stove

One place that may not have thought of is next to the stove. Now of course, you don’t want to set a lamp right by a stove because of cooking splatters. But a couple of feet away will work and work well!

And because I love this look so much, I just couldn’t pass up sharing another picture of lamps near the sink. If my sink area was just a tad bit bigger, you better believe that I would do this in a heart beat!

So are you wondering if I’m going to try out this trend myself? Glad you asked! I sure did. My new little mini black globe lamp arrived a few days ago.

I didn’t mention it to Chris when it arrived. Instead, I just plugged it in and waited to see what he would say. One day later we were in the kitchen and he says, ‘I really like that new little black lamp you added! It gives the kitchen nice, soft glow at night.’ And I have to say, he is totally right. I’m really happy I tried the trend!

  1. Coincidentally, I did this a month ago, and I love it! I used a lamp that was big enough to make a statement in an otherwise utilitarian zone.

    1. Nice, Corrie! I would like to eventually try a bigger lamp in our kitchen. But for right now, it’s a fun change. 🙂

  2. Hi Laura
I’ve had one at the end of a counter, under the cabinet for a number of years. I really like the glow of light in the evening, such a cozy look.
