How To Make Modern Flower Arrangements
Creating modern flower arrangements is super easy to do. All you need is some fabulous flowers and a stylin’ compote bowl. Let me show you!
One of my favorite ways to add a little color into our home is with flowers. And during the winter months and especially in February, flowers are a must! Whether it be for Valentine’s Day or just because, modern flower arrangements take only minutes to create. And the enjoyment, well that can last for days!
Is This Flower Arrangement Difficult?
No way! I like to keep all my flower arrangement tutorials super simple. If it’s too difficult, it’s no longer fun to create. And flowers should always be fun!
What Do I Need To Make Modern Flower Arrangements?
To make this simple flower arrangement all you will need is the following:
- compote bowl
- WetFom Brick
- garden shears
- greens (I used two different types of eucalyptus)
- filler flower (I used waxflower and mums)
- thriller flower (I used roses)

The Four Steps to Creating Modern Flower Arrangements
First, soak your floral wet foam in water until it is saturated. Once it is soaked through, simply cut it using a knife and fit it inside your container. Use as many different pieces and sizes to fill the compote bowl in completely. The foam should be just below the top of the bowl ridge.
Next, grab your greens. I used two different types of eucalyptus for mine, but you’re welcome to use whatever greenery you desire. Start by inserting the eucalyptus into the floral Wetfom beginning at edges and letting the leaves droop down. Then continue around the perimeter of the bowl and finish by adding a few stems in the center as well. The goal is to create a fabulous base of greenery for your flowers.
Now, it’s time to add the your thriller flower into the arrangement. I inserted my roses first then accented those with my white mums.
Lastly, I filled in any gaps with my waxflower stems. I suggest to rotate the flower arrangement often while you are inserting flowers so you can see all the gaps. This also help to keep the arrangement looking proportional as well. It doesn’t have to be perfect, you just don’t want a huge cluster of one type of flower. 🙂
Tweaking is a must – at least for me. So I will rearrange the flowers until I feel the arrangement is balanced. Often I have to tell myself to stop and walk away! And once I do, I come back to find a pretty stylin’ modern flower arrangement waiting for me. 🙂
This whole arrangement only took me about 15 minutes from start to finish. So simple and perfect for Valentine’s Day or any day of the year!
