Holiday Home Tour 2013 + {DIY} Glitter Reindeer

| | |

Hi there!
Can you believe that Christmas is only thirteen days away?
I still have tons of shopping to do because
I’ve been so busy decorating and making Christmas crafts.

I decided to make a fun glitter reindeer canvas art full of Christmas cheer. 🙂
Learn how to make your own Glitter Reindeer Canvas Art! Easy tutorial!

I just love the sparkle of glitter, don’t you?
This fun Christmas art couldn’t be more easier to make.
It’s only five easy steps to make your walls sparkle this holiday!

First step is to gather your supplies.

You will need a canvas, foam brush, decoupage glue, glitter and a deer silhouette.
You are welcome to use the same one I did…

I had my deer silhouette printed at Staples which set me back a whole $1.93!
I then cut the deer head out and centered it on my canvas.

I grabbed a pencil and started tracing the outline.
If you are really confident in your tracing skills, you could use a pen.
But I like the option to be able to erase. 🙂

Once I had the deer traced it was time to cover the complete silhouette with decoupage.

Then it was time to glitter-fy this baby! 🙂
I chose red glitter because my Christmas colors this year are red and gold.
I covered the entire outline with tons of glitter.

I allowed the decoupage to dry completely (a few hours).
I then shook off the excess glitter and applied a second coat of decoupage
right on top of the first layer of glitter.

By the way,
this is a great time to hide any tracing lines that didn’t get covered the first time. 🙂
Once that dries, I shook it once more.
Then I decided to place it on my shelves and do a little Christmas vignette.

I really wanted the reindeer to get all the attention, so I placed it front and center.
To complete the look I added some greenery,
a dough bowl full of ornaments with a few hanging ones as well.

I love how the whole look came together. So festive and sparkly!

I wish you a very Merry Christmas!
