Hanging Kitchen Towels (Creative Ideas on Where and How To Hang)
Display those kitchen towels – don’t hide them away. Let me show how hanging kitchen towels in your kitchen can be both stylish and functional!
Kitchen tea towels have come along way. But they have a great tradition in the kitchen as well. Now don’t get me wrong, paper towels will always have a place in my kitchen. We use them a ton – especially the hubby!
But kitchen towels are tremendously useful and even maybe, a tad bit addictive at times. At least for me. 🙂
But all joking aside, updating and displaying your kitchen towels is an easy, inexpensive task that can totally change the look of a kitchen. By simply hanging kitchen towels in your kitchen you’re adding texture, functionality, pattern, and color to the room.
I enjoy switching them often to reflect the current season or my mood. I often grab them to dry dishes or clean up spills. And of course, I like how they instantly make my kitchen feel lived in. And who doesn’t love a timeless kitchen towel that is as pretty as it is absorbent?
So, first let’s talk about several different styles of hanging kitchen towels in the kitchen. Then I’ll share some of my favorite towels!
Where’s The Right Places To Hang A Kitchen Towel?
Now this question might seem silly but really, there’s a ton of different areas to hang or display decorative kitchen towels. And personally, I think they all look great!
Which way is the best way? Well, that might be determined on how you daily use your towels.
Fresh Towel
If you like to have a clean hanging towel waiting for you, you might want to install a simple kitchen towel rack. I love the idea of how this one is displayed on the side of a kitchen cabinet. It’s such a unique hand towel holder.
It’s easy to access but it’s not in the way. So look for a small area in your kitchen that could become a whole lot more useful with just a few pegs installed!
Damp Towels
If you have a wet towel from drying dishes, you may want to hang it some where to completely dry out. A cabinet towel ring would be great way to hang a damp towel.
I’ve seen some even attach the ring to the side of an upper cabinet next to the sink. This would allow for easy access and the towel would have great air circulation too.
Hand Drying
If you don’t want to install anything permanently, laying a towel on the sink edge is great option for hand drying.
Placed next to the kitchen sink, the towel is very visible and accessible for all members of the family and guests. This is one of my favorite ways to hang a kitchen towel!
You could even place the towel a little lower on the back of a cabinet door below the sink. Out of sight but still easy to grab.
Oven or Dishwasher Handle
If you want to keep your kitchen towel close by but not necessary on the sink, the dishwasher handle can be a great kitchen towel holder.
Often the dishwasher is installed right next to the sink, so keeping your towel on this handle is so helpful and an easy way to keep it within reach.
Another option could be the oven handle (great for grabbing hot items out of the oven) or even the refrigerator door handles.
Best Way To Hang Kitchen Towels
So which of these options is the best? Well, I say give them all a try and see what you find most helpful to you! I personally like hanging kitchen towels on my oven door handle and laying them on the sink edge. I find both locations super convenient for our kitchens daily use.
Other Uses for Hand Towels
Besides drying your hands, kitchen hand towels can also be used as larger napkins and for hosting and serving. Sometimes I even use them to grab baked items out of the oven like these delicious popovers!
So now are you ready to see my favorite kitchen towel picks? Well good news! I have 15 decorative towels I’m sure you are gonna love.
Favorite Style and Fabric for Kitchen Towels
When I am shopping for new kitchen towels, I tend to gravitate to the clean look of neutral colors/patterns and natural materials. I like linen and cotton because they have a nice feel, they’re absorbent and they have a classic look that never goes out of style!
I got to thinking that kitchen towels can also make a great gift for almost any occasion – especially for hostess or house warming. Wrap up some kitchen utensils inside a towel, tie with a ribbon and BAM – super cute gift that is so affordable.
