Best Greige Paint Colors

There are a ton of greige colors in todays paint selections. What’s the foundation of greige colors and how do you pick the best one for you?

To answer those questions and more, let’s take a deep dive into the most popular greige paint colors and then hopefully all of this information will help you confidently pick the perfect greige paint color for your homes decor!

First, let’s start by discussing more about what makes a greige color.

What Is Greige?

It’s simple! Gray plus beige makes the neutral color greige. So basically this color falls somewhere in the middle of gray and a warm beige.

So now, let’s talk more about a question I’m sure you’re asking yourself right now.

Is There A Difference Between Greige and Taupe?

Greige and taupe are actually different colors! The may look similar but their differences lie in the undertones.

Even though taupe and often mushroom are often referred to as greige, they actually have more brown/purple warm undertones. And greige colors tend to favor a more green undertone.

Sherwin Williams Colonnade Gray

Colonnade Gray is definitely a warm, neutral gray paint color but can fall into the greige color category because it has a very minor green undertone. And that little bit of warmth helps give this color more of a beige tint.

This color can look fantastic with warm wood features. But it can also work beautifully in rooms with less light like a bathroom. It may look a tad more gray though then greige.
