Fall Burlap and Lace Wreath {Tutorial}

Hi! My name is Laura and I am addicted to making burlap wreaths! (ha ha) I have been on a burlap wreath-making frenzy. I made one last week and guess what?  Yep, I have made another. This one is a totally different style though. But as with all my crafts, just as easy!

 

 

This whole project took me about 30 minutes from beginning to end! Super easy! I already had the small burlap flowers, large ones and the chalkboard sign. I thought some lace flowers would be a nice compliment to the tan burlap. I love how it turned out! The flowers were super easy to make as well. All you need is some lace and a glue gun. 

 

First step is to cut your lace about 7 inches long. 
Then you will fold in half, twice. (Below picture has only been halved once.)

 

 

Next you are going to start rolling the lace, tight at first then looser as you add layers on. 

 

Keep rolling until you have about an four-inch tail.
Cut the tail off and hot glue the flower end to the back of the flower. 
 (This will secure the flower.) Take the excess lace and trim it to look like flower petals.

 

All that’s left is to hot glue the flower into the middle of the lace flower petals.

 

Your flower is all done and now ready to be attached to a wreath.

 

I grabbed an old grapevine wreath from the garage and added my burlap flowers. I balanced the burlap with my lace flowers weaved in between. The chalkboard sign was just icing on the cake for me….I love everything chalkboard!!!! 🙂 

I knew I wanted to hang my new fall wreath on my front door, but I didn’t’ have a hook. Nails were out because my door is metal. The solution was these Gecko Tech Reusable Hooks. You can find them at Amazon and at Office Max.

 

 

I knew this would be perfect because it won’t damage my door, it’s removable and get this– you can reuse them!! Love that feature!

It was super easy to apply. I cleaned the door with rubbing alcohol and then pressed really, really hard to push out air bubbles. (Getting out all those tiny air bubbles can be a little tricky!)  Maybe I just need more muscles. 🙂 Once every bubble was gone,  I placed my wreath on the hook and all was good!

 

 

I know it’s not officially fall yet, but I think this wreath is just hinting at the new season to come. {wink, wink}  

So what do you think? Should I go for burlap wreath number three? Or should I seek professional help? 🙂

  7. I love the lace and burlap combination for your flowers – so pretty! I need one of those hooks. We got a new door last year and hubby will not let me hang a wreath for fear of scratching the factory finish custom paint. A door isn[‘t a door without a wreath, I say.
