Basement Family/Play Room Makeover – Week 1
I can’t believe it’s already October and time for another One Room Challenge. This is my second time participating, my first was when I made over my living room. It was a fun experience so I couldn’t resist another round. This time I’m going to remodel a room in our basement to make a family / play room for the boys. I’m sure you are thinking, “Wait! Did she finish her kitchen remodel and I missed the reveal?!” Nope. You haven’t missed a thing. I am almost ready to show you the finished kitchen. The new wood floors are almost completely installed and all I have left to do is paint. This basement project won’t be as intense as the kitchen, so I’m pretty sure I can swing it. Or maybe I’m just crazy. Either way….here we go!
Here is a picture of the room present day. Now before you look remember….we just moved in a year ago and all the “extra” stuff some how ended up in the basement. It became a space we never use and that’s why I really want to organize and decorate this area. So now that I said that, you can peek. 😉
My husband has brought my youngest son down here and helped him go through boxes of packed toys. Can you tell?
This is the opposite wall. There is a built-in corner wood unit I guess was used for a tv. But I have different plans for that space, so I’m ripping that out. I see a corner perfect for a chalkboard wall, displayed art and a little table and chairs.
I also have plans for that window wall. I’m thinking a storage bench and some wall shelves. Â I’ve been pinning ideas for this area on my Pinterest Play Room board all summer. Here’s some inspiration photos to give you a visual idea on how I want to transform this space.

Next week, I’ll show you my design plan for this space and share my sponsors that are helping me make this space beautiful!
