Happy Friday my lovelies! I am so excited for this weekend because I’m going to give my half bathroom a little makeover. There will be painting, installing (new sink, faucet and lighting) and new accessories. Oh it’s going to be fun! It’s suppose to start snowing on Saturday so it’s the perfect time to do some indoor projects.
Speaking of indoor projects, I recently updated my kitchen with new lighting. This little project took me about an hour to do both lights. You may be thinking right now, “Laura…I am no electrician. I can’t install a ceiling light?” Let me stop you right there! I am no electrician and I did it. The lights come with directions and once you turn off the electricity it’s a simple step-by-step process. Â You can do it!
Before I show you the new lighting up close, let’s take a look back at the lighting that came with the house. When we moved into this home almost 6 months ago I took one look at the kitchen lighting and thought…oh…you got to go! I don’t have a great pictures of the before lighting (sorry!). I was so excited to change the lighting that I totally forgot to stop and snap some shots. But I think you can get an idea from these two pictures of what I was working with here…
The first light I installed was this gorgeous pendant light from Lamps Plus. Early this week I asked you to pick which light you thought I installed…if you picked #4 you were right! 🙂  The previous light looked like it belonged in a closet. It was boring with no pizzazz. The Parker Place Dark Bronze pendant was exactly what my kitchen needed. It’s modern but doesn’t stand out.
It’s a great light for over the sink. There’s lots of direct light for washing dishes and you can’t beat the style! I even installed a dimmer so on those middle-of-the-night feedings I wouldn’t be blinded. I highly recommend dimmers in your home, but my love for those could be it’s own post! 😉 Here’s a view of the light at night, dimmed slightly…
So pretty right? I know. I love it. I love my new flush mount ceiling too. The florescent was so bright and had a high pitch hum. It did take a little more work to remove this light and I had to patch a few holes but it was TOTALLY worth it. I love the new look of the bronze with the off-white shade.
I love the soft glow if gives the kitchen at night too.
Updating the lighting is such an easy project to do but I can give a room a whole new look. Lamps Plus has a great selection of lighting to choose from and their prices are unbeatable! I am really happy with my new lighting.
I still have big plans for the kitchen. Tiling, painting, new counter tops, new appliances, etc. If you could see into my mind and all the projects I want to do on our new house. you would be blown away!
Oh! I need to announce the randomly chosen winner of the $25.00 Starbucks gift card. Â Congratulations, KAYLEY! Please email me at inspirationformoms@gmail.com with the email you want me to send your gift card too!!Â
I love both of the lights you chose. I think the one over the sink may be my favorite though. I love it’s industrial vibe!
Thanks, Heather! I think my favorite is the kitchen sink light as well. It’s just so stylin’. 😉
The sink light is my fave, too! Thanks so much for linking it to us at Throwback Thursday; we’re looking forward to seeing what you’ll have for us next week and we’ll be pinning to our Throwback Thursday board, too!
Mollie
