Six on Saturday: Six New Uses for Bed Sheets

|

We all know that bed sheets are great for a good night’s sleep.
But did you know those soft, high thread count luxuries
can do more than just help you catch a few Zzzzz’s?
Discover six new ways to use a bed sheet that
won’t cause you to lose any sleep! 🙂
1) Move furniture with ease. Place a sheet underneath heavy furniture to protect your floors and make repositioning easier on everyone!
2) Prevent paint accidents. That new gray color you chose for you wall may not look so good on your wood floors! Be safe and use an old sheet as drop cloth.

3) Dress up the shower. Replace a plain vinyl shower curtain by attaching 16 clip-on drapery rings to one edge of the bed sheet, then slide it onto a shower rod. (Just make sure to back it with a water-proof liner)
4) Build a headboard on the cheap. Wrap a sheet over some plywood and staple in back. Prop it up as a headboard and give your bedroom a complete new look.

5) Protect your plants. Use old sheets to cover your plants and protect them from unwanted frost.
6) Make a rag rug. Cut up your old bed sheets to make a fabulous rug. (this tutorial gives you step-by-step directions)

Do you know of a new use for bed sheets?

  2. Hi, I’m visiting from Share the Wealth. Our family buys sheets all the time at garage sales and The Goodwill Outlet. Your ideas are great. Some other things we’ve done with them: cut them into thirds and laid them down as runners to protect our floors when moving; built rainy day forts by draping them over furniture, replaced our closet doors with them; used the fabric to line a bag, made a Halloween costume cape, made extra pillow cases to use for Halloween bags or to take camping; picnic tablecloth; the ideas are almost endless.

  3. Great ideas! I put old sheets in my yard sale. Seriously couldn’t believe people would buy them. Maybe they use some of your tips! lol! Now I want to start keeping mine.

  4. I love the rug! what a great idea to use a sheet for a shower curtain and a headboard! That would be a great way to add a pop of color on the cheap!

  5. Great uses for bed sheets! I can’t wait to try some. Thanks for linking up to #smallvictoriessundaylinkup!

  6. These are great uses! And I love the idea about covering the plants! I’ve got to remember that come the winter.

  7. I always use old sheets when I’m painting. Another thing I like to do is use them to make curtains. My bedroom curtains are now the exact same color as the spare pillows since they are from the same brand of sheets. 🙂

  12. I use an old flat sheet as my dust ruffle on my bed. A recently discovered use is to use one under my dog while grooming her – I can easily turn her around plus I can shake her fur off when I’m done.

  13. I have had great success using bed sheets to make curtains. The bonus is that they match your bed linens and also the headboard if you have made one.
