Modern Wood Trays Decorated for Fall

One of my favorite items I love to decorate with is trays. I use them everywhere. They’re a lovely addition to any home decor and they organize items beautifully. A few weeks ago I added a new modern wood tray to the kitchen. It’s a three tiered tray and it just officially got all dressed up for Fall.

Decorating a tiered tray may seem a little overwhelming but if you follow these three easy tips, you can create a beautiful decorative tray with little effort.

Tip 1: Decide on a theme. I knew I wanted to focus on Fall so I gathered seasonal fruit to reflect that decor. It was no problem for me to fill up all three tiers with fresh fruit because my boys love to eat it. So I bought a bunch of apples, pears and just for fun— a few pumpkins.

Tip 2: Keep everything balanced. I love the modern rustic wood look but I also like me some glam. To counter the tray’s rustic feel I decided to add something shiny. My wedding china was exactly what I needed. The pattern is a super simple white with a nice platinum ring around the outer edge. To keep the tray’s decor balanced, I wanted a little rustic and a little glam on every tier. That’s why I even included a few rustic grey metal buckets.

Tip 3: Pick a main color. I thought some green on every tier would be a nice POP of color to the modern wood tray and compliment the fresh fruit. So I added a few of my favorite ferns. They not only keep with my color theme but also add a nice texture. To add some green on the top tier I placed a pear in a cup– got to keep the balance right?

A few minutes rearranging and a little tweaking here and there…and I had a finished modern wood tray all decorated for Fall.
