Mean Green Fighting Machine~ My Spinach Smoothie Recipe

You may have noticed in my last few
trips to the grocery store that I have been buying tons of spinach.
What’s with all the spinach?
I’ve been using it to make this…
Every morning I have been starting my day with a
 healthy breakfast spinach smoothie.

Don’t let the green color fool you.
This baby is such a tasty treat, you will almost
feel guilty for drinking it.
I say almost because once you remember all the super
good nutrition that’s packed in there,
you will raise your glass proudly in honor of good health! 🙂

So what’s in my spinach smoothie that makes it taste so good?
Glad you asked! Let me share with you my recipe.

First I cut up one banana and half of an apple.

I place those in the blender first. Next comes the yogurt.

Now I prefer Chobani Greek yogurt because it has a higher amount of
protein (16 grams per serving) and zero fat.
But you are welcome to use any type of yogurt you desire.

After I have added the yogurt I grab my whey protein.

My favorite brand of whey is Biochem.
I like that it is all natural and it doesn’t contain
artificial hormones, preservative, flavors or sweeteners.
Added bonus, it contains 20 grams of protein per serving.

I add one scoop of whey and now it’s time for some liquid.

I like to use organic milk.
Why? If you said for the protein you would be correct!
A cup of milk contains 8 grams of protein.

Now it’s time to add the star of the show….the spinach!

That’s right, just fill that baby to the top with green goodness.
Spinach is packed full of vitamin A, vitamin K, magnesium.
folate, vitamin E, vitamin B6 and B12.
And what does all this do for your body?
Well besides helping you stay health,
spinach can also help your body fight certain types of cancer.
It can help you build stronger bones,
improve your cardiovascular system, improve your mental function,
help your eyesight and even give you more energy.
So that’s why I say, the more the better!

Top your blender and hit the puree button.
After your smoothie is blended it’s time to add one last ingredient.

Just a tablespoon of honey is all you need.
Blend once more and then it’s time to serve.
Cheers!

Here’s a complete break down of the recipe:

1 banana
1/2 an apple
6 oz. of Greek yogurt
1 scoop whey prortein
1 cup milk
4 cups spinach
1 tablespoon of honey

I do hope you give my mean green fighting machine smoothie a try.
It’s such an easy way to get some great nutrition in your body.
Besides the great taste, it’s portable, protein loaded (over 40 grams) and low in fat!

Have you ever tried a spinach smoothie before?
