Let Things Go — Autumn Free Printable

| |

This autumn free printable is a sweet reminder of the beauty we experience in life when we just let things go.

Autumn has always been my favorite season and after this summer…even more so.

Around the first week in July, Chris’s grandmother passed away. She was in her nineties and had lived a long, beautiful life. So we ventured to Texas and said our goodbyes along with many dear family members. Funerals are hard. And watching Chris at funerals is even harder. He tries to keep it together — but the tears always flow — and eventually the wailing will too. And when that starts, Sebastian will immediately lose it and start crying. I guess he will take after his father with his super tender heart.

It’s hard watching the ones you love experience so much sadness. I try my best to comfort Sebastian because I know Chris just has to work it out. Death as much as we dislike it, is a part of life.  And for us, July was going to bring one more.

Butters, our pug, had been with Chris and I for over fourteen years. He was without a doubt, our first baby. We loved watching him grow from a puppy into a special little friend that quickly took up residence in our hearts. He moved with us to three different houses and he was always my reliable couch snuggler.

The day after we got back from Texas, we noticed a sore on Butters face. Chris took him to the vet the next day and within a few minutes there, I got the text that broke my heart. ‘It’s cancer. Pain meds and antibiotics to help. Days not weeks.’ He had a huge cancerous tumor inside his throat and it was only a matter of time until he would no longer be able to eat. So from then on we fed him his favorite things, like steak from Chipotle. Those last eleven days were hard, the last one especially. He was so weak and couldn’t even stand. We had an appointment at the vets the next day to relieve his suffering. But instead, he left us in the middle of the night as we were petting him right next to our bed.

Again, the tears flowed and this time questions came from the boys. ‘Where’s Butters?’ ‘Is Dad ok?’ How do you explain death to a three-year old? July was hard.

And now autumn is almost here. It’s a season of death too really, just beautifully expressed through rich color. This last season of the year shows us how truly beautiful it can be to just let things go. Let go of a family member. Or a beloved pet. Let go of our fears. Maybe insecurities that are holding us back. Just. Let. It. All. Go. It’s why I made this autumn free printable. I wanted a visual reminder that there doesn’t have to just be sadness in letting go, but beauty in moving forward.

Maybe you’re ready for this season of change too. It’s the perfect time to let go and perhaps try something new — like maybe a pumpkin spiced latte! (You know I love my pumpkin, so I just had to throw that one in there!) Or actually take that drive to the mountains to see the changing of the leaves. Perhaps a visit to the pumpkin patch — which we are definitely going to do this year because Britton is busting at the seams to see one!

I encourage you to print this autumn free printable and place it where you need a daily reminder to just let go of what’s holding you back. I will be sharing my kitchen fall tour later this week. But for right now, I can show you a sneak peak of the kitchen and where I placed this printable in my home.
