Five Tips for Treating Baby Eczema
Today’s post is sponsored by Skinfix Inc., but my love for their products is all my own.
Bath time is one of my favorite times of the day. I ignore all my daily distractions and focus one-on-one with my baby boy. We both enjoy lots of splashes and giggles. We share in some good baby talk and everyone has a great time. But if you have a baby with sensitive skin and prone to eczema, bath time is not so much fun. These five tips for treating and preventing baby eczema can help bring back the enjoyment to your babies bath time.
The Right Water temperature
Be careful with the bathe water temperature. The water should be warm but not to hot. The length of the bath matters too. 10-15 minutes is a good amount of time to get clean and enjoy a few splashes and giggles.
The Right body wash/shampoo
Use a body wash/ shampoo that is free of sulfates and fragrance such as Skinfix Gentle Baby Products. It’s a great gentle 2-in-1 formula that uses natural botanical based cleansers that are tear-free and won’t strip away skin’s natural moisture.
The Right Moisturizer
Immediately after bathing, use a fragrance free moisturizer that is infused with vitamins and natural soothing botanicals that will quickly absorb and banish dryness on contact. This will keep your babies skin soft and help prevent eczema from starting.
The Right Clothes
Dress your baby in natural fibers like cotton or cotton blend. It’s best to avoid heavy and scratchy fabrics like wool. Washing new baby clothes before your child wears them can also help avoid irritations. A detergent that is free of fragrance is best and I suggest skipping the fabric softener all together.
The Right Air
Dry air only makes dry skin worse. Adding a humidifier to your child bedrooms will help add extra moisture to the air.
Hopefully these tips will help bring back the joy to your little ones bath time. It’s such a precious time that is gone in the blink of an eye, you’ve got to make every one count! 😉
