How To Add A Fall Feeling To Your Bedroom

Learn four simple ways to create a fall feeling bedroom that’s cozy and stylish!

Fall is totally in the air in Colorado. The nights are getting cooler and if you look really close, you can see a subtle change in the color of the tree leaves. I’ve slowly been adding a few fall touches to the rooms in our home as well. And this past weekend, I designed fall feeling bedroom that is not my usual style but I love how it turned out!

Layer Some Warmth

The first thing I switch out when fall arrives is warmer bedding. I added a warm cozy, quilt that not only gives us warmth on those cooler fall nights but also adds some warm fall color to the room as well. 

A simple folded down comforter on the end of the bed adds one more layer of cozy. For me, the fall feeling is all about those layers! 😉  

Swap the Art

The art in bedroom was definitely saying summer. So I removed the light color round basket I was hanging over the center of the bed. Instead, I decided to just place a couple of family photos above each night stand next to the wall light sconces. 

This was such a simple switch, but it really changed the feel in the room. In the past when I looked at the giant blank area over the bed headboard, I felt the need to fill the space. That it would some how be a ‘decorating disaster’ to leave that area bare.  

Well, it’s bare and I’m loving it! To me, the wall looks cleaner, simpler and your eyes just get a rest. So who knows? That space may stay ’empty’ for a long time. Sometimes, less is truly more!

Touch of Velvet

Fall and velvet are like the perfect pairing! I always reach for some velvet pillows this time of year. And for the bed, I decided to have some fun with a little pop of plum. 

If you saw my kitchen and dining room fall home tour last week, you know that those pretty plum colors are popping up throughout the house. Our bedroom colors are pretty neutral so these two pillows add a ton of color and coziness to the bed.

Did you catch that pop of leopard on the bed? How could you miss it right? I don’t usually decorate that bold but when I saw this pillow, it just caught my eye. 

Leopard is so in season right now when it comes to fashion, so why not incorporate some of that fun print into a fall feeling bedroom decor. Keep the fun in your fall decor with a unexpected pillow, throw or maybe eve with a pop of some leopard mules. 😉 

I hope my simple, four tips help you create a fall feeling bedroom in your home. Whether it be your master or your guest room, a little touch of fall coziness can really make everyone feel more at home.
