DIY: Decorative Hot Chocolate Station

|

Almost every night for the last few weeks, I have indulged in a cup of sweet hot chocolate. I know…if I keep this up throughout the winter, I am going to be the size of Texas! And that won’t be so sweet. 🙂

But one night, while I was making my usual cup of cocoa, I started to wonder what was in the store bought mix I was using. After reading the ingredients, I was kinda shocked. It seems simple enough to make it naturally. I bet I could do that. And, if I am going to make a huge mix, why not go the extra mile and make a hot chocolate station with all the goodies.

So friends, that’s just what I did…

It’s really quite simple. I gathered up some glass canisters, a tray, and some mugs. I then made a few labels and a decorative sign. Which by the way, you can have for FREE. I will tell you how to print them in a bit.

Next step was to find a great hot chocolate recipe with natural ingredients. This recipe is super simple and doesn’t cost very much to make.

Natural Hot Chocolate
2 cups organic powdered sugar
1 cup organic cocoa
2 1/2 cups organic dry milk
1 tsp. organic sea salt
2 tsp. cornstarch
pinch of cayenne pepper
Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl and then store in airtight container.
To make a cup, simply fill your mug with about 1/3 cup of mix and fill the rest of the
cup with hot water or milk. Top with your favorite fixin’.
I included some candy canes and marshmallows for my extra sweet toppings. But really, you can add anything your heart desires. The yummy possibilities are endless!

Now that we have discussed how to make the sweet stuff, let me share the details of my decorations. When I was deciding how to make my labels I wanted something Christmas themed, but neutral as well. That way, I can have the station out all winter. And for my sign,  I chose the lyrics from a famous winter song.

And like I mentioned before, if you would like to make your own station, I have included the labels and sign. To print, simply click on each picture and save to your own computer. A little holiday gift from me to you!

I have to tell you that I love my Hot Chocolate Station. It looks festive in my kitchen and it’s something that I can have out all winter, not just during the holidays.

One last picture, a little holiday-ified. (yes, I totally just made up that word!)

This really must be the easiest do-it-yourself project I have ever shared! I encourage you to make a station. Then you too, can taste the reward of this project oh, daily around 8:30 pm from time to time. 🙂

Now, please excuse me. I must go and enjoy my nightly drink. But, before I go…I have to ask…what’s your favorite hot drink this time of year?
