Designing Our Hall Bathroom Remodel with Floor & Decor

Planning for a hall bathroom remodel is easy when you shop at Floor & Decor!
I have a secret that I have been dying to tell you! There’s a new project in the works that will be starting next month. Any guesses to what room is getting a makeover? (I guess I did give the secret away already in the title. 🙂 ) If you said a hall bathroom remodel, you would be correct! Last week I took a trip to Floor & Decor to make some decisions about the tile design for the bathroom.
Lucky for me, they just opened a Thornton store in north Denver. It’s only been open for about a week so I couldn’t wait to take a tour of their beautiful new store. I also was super excited about my free design consultation appointment with one of their talented designers. I could talk tile all day long!
Selection
If you’ve never been to Floor & Decor I would describe it as like a one stop shop! They offer the broadest in-stock selection of tile, wood, stone, related tools and flooring accessories – all under one roof. And they have the lowest everyday prices you will find. It’s a great place to visit and get inspired!
So as soon as I arrived, I took a tour of the store to see their gorgeous selection up close. Even though I could shop online, to me it’s totally worth the drive from anywhere to actually touch the materials. It’s so fun to connect with the smoothness of the marble or the textures and knots of the laminate flooring. The feel of the product is a huge factor to me when shopping.
Just look at all that gorgeous tile!
Free Design Services
When it came time for my design consultation, I already had a mood board design for Crystal (my designer) to reference.
Crystal had so many great ideas, including the suggestion of making the back of the shower an accent wall. An idea I had never considered! So she gathered up a few samples to give me a visual, shown below. I love how they looked next to the slate tile floor example!
We started to pull some subway tiles into the design as well. First up was a light gray tile. Once it was placed next to the accent wall tile and the flooring tile, we both agreed that wasn’t the right look. But we didn’t know that until we place all the tiles next to each other. Just another benefit of that in-store, hands-on shopping experience!
We decided to grab some marble subway tiles. And I am so glad we did. The marble look fits in perfectly with my whole hall bathroom design!
But the more we looked at the marble paired next to the accent wall tile, the more we felt it wasn’t right. So we decided to just keep it simple with the marble subway tile. And did I mention how gorgeous that marble tile is?! A whole shower filled with that tile is going to be so beautiful!
The Final Choices for Hall Bathroom Remodel
Crystal suggested instead of the accent wall, I could play around with tile for the shower niche. Another fabulous idea! So after looking over a few samples, we decided on this combination. I absolutely love how the little gray squares in the accent tile compliment the vein running through the marble tiles. And then when you pair it with the slate floor — it’s like my dream come true!
We even took a look at the grout options because all that is available in the store as well. I picked a pearl gray for the shower tile and black for the floor tile.
The free design service was so helpful! If you are planning on remodeling a space in your home, I totally recommend you contact a designer. As you can see, my own design plan changed a little because I could see an actual in-person visualization of the tile.
And now that I can see it, I can’t wait to get started on the hall bathroom remodel! For those of you who want to try your hand at your own renovation, Floor & Decor offers FREE how-to classes on Saturdays!
So have you shopped at a Floor & Decor before? What do you think of my tile selection?
