I love adding Christmas decor throughout my whole home, including the bedrooms. This year, I decorated the boys room and our master bedroom. I wanted to create rooms that was super cozy with just a hint of Christmas flare. I believe there is beauty in simplicity. So that’s why I am so honored to join my friend, Krista from the Happy Housie and so many other talented bloggers for a special Christmas Home tour edition of Seasonal Simplicity. If you are visiting from Jenna at Jenna Kate at Home, welcome!

The decor for our Christmas bedroom home tour this year is very simple but I love how the room looks! And all I did was change three things to give this room a magical Christmas feel.

The nights are colder, so the bed needs to get cozier. I’m thinking velvet is the answer!

The Bedding

This velvet quilt and shams I actually bought last year. But I loved them so much, I couldn’t wait to bring them out again! They really take the coziness factory of our bed up to a level 10!

I also switched out our sheets for some stripped flannel ones. I was never a fan of flannel sheets when I was young. It’s probably because the night gowns my mom put me in were flannel. So flannel on flannel is like Velcro. I could hardly turn over in bed!

But now that I know flannel on flannel is not your friend — I’m a big fan. Those Colorado nights can get pretty cold. 😉

Shop the bedding:

Every Christmas bedroom needs some festive pillows.

The Pillows

Adding some fun Christmas pillows is an easy and very inexpensive way to give some holiday beauty to your bedroom. I’m pretty sure I’ve confessed before that I’m a pillow addict — they’re a decorators best friend. But I’ve learned to just buy the covers now and reuse the pillow inserts. Because no one needs 25 pillow inserts. Right?!

These plaid pillow covers are just the perfect accent for the bed. I love how nicely they compliment the velvet bedding and add a pop of color at the same time.

On the bench at the foot of the bed I added two more pillows. A red velvet one because yes to red and velvet is always a good thing. And I grabbed a faux fur one because it just feels cozy.

And now to add the magical twinkle effect!

The Lights

To give our bedroom a soft glow, I added a few pre-lit faux pin trees. I placed these on our dresser and I love seeing them in the evening as I walk down the hall towards our bedroom.

On our headboard I placed one simple pre-lit garland. It adds a really pretty greenery to our bed even when it’s not lit. But at night, it adds such a warm glow to the room. The perfect Christmas touch!
