Christmas Art and Game Room

Welcome to our Christmas Art and Game Room and the first Christmas Home Tour of the season!

Well, todays post is a pretty exciting one! I’m officially sharing the very first home tour of the Christmas season. Normally my home tours start in the kitchen or with our front porch. Not this year! I’m starting at the basement level and working my way up. So today I’m sharing our basement Christmas Art and Game Room.

This holiday home tour has a little different twist! I’ve teamed up with the lovely Chelsea’s! Chelsea from Two Twenty One and Chelsea from Making Home Base to share with you a fun Holiday Home Tour – Kid Edition style. So if you just hoped over from Two Twenty One – Welcome! I’m so glad you are here.

So let’s get this Kid Christmas Art and Game tour started!

I recently remodeled this basement area about two months ago. If you missed the before and after – you can see all the details of that makeover HERE. And since the remodel, we have been using this space non-stop. In fact, I had to kick everyone out just so I could get the area decorated and pics snapped for this tour! 🙂

My initial Christmas decor theme for this space was going to be green, white and black. But then I pulled out some of last year’s red decor and placed it in the room while I was unpacking more holiday decor. Then I turned around and thought – dang, red would look good in here! So for the basement, I swapping the green for red.

One fun holiday addition I added to this area was the new DIY wooden houses Advent calendar I just made. This was such a fun and easy project to create for the boys Christmas! (If you’d like to build one to – you can find the complete tutorial HERE.)

The only part of the Advent calendar I didn’t finish is what I’m going to hide inside each little wooden house. Well, thank goodness I still have a few days to figure that part out! 🙂

The art table coloring tray even has a little festive addition with some bottle brush trees. 🙂 I have to confess, those bottle brush trees can be so addictive. Each year when I pull out my Christmas decor I’m finding more and more. I think I forget how many I already own and I keep buying more! It’s a struggle.

Along with the Advent calendar, the boys also have this fun countdown sign. I actually bought this last year and I guess it’s suppose to be screwed into the wall to hang. But I thought it was kinda crazy to damage the walls for a sign that’s only up for 25 days.

So I figured out how to attach it to our paper roll holder with some ribbon. No new holes in our walls and the boys can go still enjoy the countdown to the main event. That’s what I call winning!:)

On the right side of the bookcases I added a pair of mini trees. And in each tree I placed one ornament from Christmas’s past.  I picked these two in particular for a little extra pop of red.

If you look at the reflection in the tv screen,  you can see a sneak peek of our basement Christmas tree.  And I’m super excited to be sharing that full reveal in a week or so! 🙂  So be sure to come back for more of my Christmas home tours.
