So let me tell you more about the best ten family games and why you’re going to love playing them all.
Oh! And if you have any family games that I didn’t share here, leave a comment about it! It would be nice to make this a resource full of lots of family games. 🙂
LCR Wild Dice Game — 4.8 Stars out of 5
LCR (Left Center Right) is a very popular, fast-paced dice game that you will not be able to put down. I’ve heard nothing but great things about this company — just look at that star rating!
This reviewers idea is a great way to play the game: ‘We don’t play with the chips, we play with real money. We use $1 bills for our chips. before there was no jackpot and now there is. People go nuts when they win the jackpot. Can’t wait for my next camping trip to play this game with my friends.’
Catch Phrase Game — 4.7 Stars out of 5
This Catch Phrase family game is an electronic game with 5,000 words and phrases that’s fun and challenging to play. Try to get teammates to guess the word or phrase that appears on the screen by describing it any way possible — but you have to do it fast!
Lots of great reviews like this one: ‘This newest version has a larger window, specific category options and a different sound effect. Easy to keep score and the phrases are very clear and large for simple reading. You can play by candlelight if need be. This is one of the best games ever made.’
5 Second Rule — 4.6 stars out of 5
Pick a card, read the seemingly easy topic, then it’s time to start the timer. Now you only have 5 seconds to name 3 things that fit the topic, it doesn’t seem so easy!
One review said, ‘At first, my family was apprehensive because it was a new game concept, but once we played a couple rounds it was a hit!’
Relative Insanity — 4.5 stars out of 5
So here’s how you play this family game. You read a setup card aloud, like, “when my brother brought out his new baby to show the family, Granny blurt out…”. Then everyone else chooses a punch line card to finish the phrase, like maybe, “you are not the father!” or “somebody took a trip to the land of bad decisions.” And then the reader picks the funniest answer to give that player a point. So you really gotta think about who the reader is and what they’ll find particularly funny!
Loved this review: ‘Very fun game, but beware. It’s only mostly kid friendly. I think it says 14 and up on the side. Take that to heart. There are some sexual references and innuendo that are not appropriate for kids younger than teenagers. Having said that, my 10 year old has played with us and all the sexual references go right over her head. It was just a little uncomfortable for us parents, but still fun and hilarious to play.’
Trivia Pursuit for Families — 4.7 stars out of 5
If you loved the original game, this one is going to be even better! There’s questions for adults and children so it’s perfect for all ages.
Many great reviews like this one: ‘If you’re looking for a game that doesn’t last for hours and tests your knowledge, than this is the game for you. It allows up to 4 people to play, or ever 8 if you want to have teams with a large party. The yellow kids are much easier than the blue (adult) cards but some of the blue card questions are super hard. It’s all around fun to play.’
Telestrations — 4.8 Stars out of 5
With this game, you draw what you see and then guess what you saw for hilarious and unpredictable outcomes. I’ve played this with friends and it can get really funny, fast! 🙂
Couldn’t agree more with this review: ‘Buy it!!! Seriously, what are you waiting for!? Buy it! We actually have the 6 player set and the 12 player set. I recommend the 12 player personally. You can always use less of the drawing pads if you have less players, but this is a great game for a larger group. This really is our go to game for groups. My daughter had a party with a bunch of eleven and twelve year olds and they got hysterical playing this. Then my son had a bunch of other boys over (ages 12-14) and they got hysterical on a whole different level. I laughed until I was almost crying at one point. Both times I had parents asking where I got the game.’
Codenames Pictures — 4.7 Stars out of 5
The sequel to the massive hit, Codenames, has the players looking at pictures instead of words in order to guess the clues. If you thought the original was exciting, just wait ’til you play this family game!
Another great review: ‘This is a fantastic family game. Lots of interactions. I have the word edition too. With this edition you can involve younger children!!! Loads of fun.’
Spontuneous the Song Game — 4.5 Stars out of 5
If you’ve ever heard a word, a song pops into your head, and you spontaneously burst into a tune, then this is the perfect game for you or anyone who has a song for everything!
‘Sometimes you can pick a word from the easiest song and no one will get it. I used the word “Ray” as in Do-Re-Me; ray a drop of golden sun. Stumped everyone! A very common word such as “from ” can be really hard in 15 seconds. Of course later on you can think of lots of songs with those words in them. Well, maybe not Ray. We loved the game and ended up playing it twice that night.’ one reviewer said.
ICECOOL Game — 4.7 Stars out of 5
ICECOOL is a fun flicking game that is a great test of dexterity for children, teenagers and adults alike. It’s an adorable game for the little ones that won’t make the adults feel dumb while playing it. 🙂
A great review, ‘Definitely a fun, fast paced family game. This is the perfect game to introduce to young children, family and friends that aren’t serious gamers.’
Wits & Wagers Family Game Edition — 4.7 Stars out of 5
Take a guess and score points by choosing whose’s guess is the closest. History’s most award-winning party game – winner of 39 awards. This is a game where the kids can beat the parents!
Great game for everyone as stated by this reviewer, ‘This is a great addition to any gamers collection for parties and casual get-togethers where you are looking for something fun and straightforward to play.’
