12 DIY Natural Cleaning Recipes

Happy Thursday and Happy First Day of Spring!
With this winter being so long and cold, I’ve been eagerly waiting for Spring!
 It looks like today’s weather is going to be beautiful and sunny. :)
Today is a perfect opportunity to open the windows and do some much needed Spring cleaning.

If you are like me and you’re itchin’ to get your home clean,
you may need a few natural cleaners to help you get the job done.

Today I’m sharing twelve different cleaning recipes
 to take your home from winter blah to spring cheer!
I have cleaners for the kitchen, bathroom, living room and even for your laundry.
All of these recipes are natural and will cost you just pennies to make. 

For the Kitchen:
 
 All-Purpose Cleaner
Combine: 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon dish soap and
 2 tablespoons vinegar in a spray bottle
Give it a stir then add warm water and give it a shake.
(You can also had a few drops of your favorite essential oil)
Sink Cleaner
Combine: 1/3 cup baking soda and warm water in bowl to get a nice paste
How to Use:  Put paste on a brush or sponge and scrub away.

Grease Cleaner
Combine: undiluted vinegar in a spray bottle
How to Use: Spray onto surface and allow to sit for a few minutes then wipe clean.

For the Bathroom:
Scouring Powder
Combine: 1 cup baking soda, 1 cup borax and 1 cup kosher salt in a jar. 
How to Use: Sprinkle on area to be cleaned, wipe with a wet sponge and rinse.
Floor Sanitizer
Combine: 1/2 cup borax and 2 gallons hot water
How to Use: Apply with a mop or sponge. (Rinsing is not necessary)

Toilet Bowl Cleaner
Combine: 1/4 cup borax or baking soda and 1 cup vinegar
How to Use: Combine in toilet, let set for 15 minutes, scrub and flush. 

For the Living Room:

 Carpet Stain Cleaner
Combine: 1/4 cup salt, 1/4 cup borax and 1/4 cup vinegar
How to Use: Apply this paste to deep stains and allow to sit for several hours
until it dries completely, then vacuum it away.
Upholstery Cleaner
Combine: half dish detergent and half water in a container, use hand mixer to whip
How to Use:  Apply with rag and rub the froth into the spot, then rinse with water.
Spray Air Freshener
Combine: 1 oz rubbing alcohol, 6 oz filtered water, 20-40 drops of essential oils 
(suggested scents would be peppermint, jasmine or citrus oils) in spray bottle
How to Use: Remove household odors by spraying for instant freshness.
 
 For the Laundry Room:

 Laundry Detergent
Combine: 1 bar of shredded natural soap, 1 cup borax, 
1 cup Arm and Hammer washing soda (NOT baking soda) 
How to Use: Add 1 tablespoon per load.
Fabric Softener
Combine: 20-30 drops of essential oils (prefer lavender) with a gallon of white vinegar
How to Use: Add to the rinse cycle.

Grease Stain Remover
Needed: one piece of white chalk
How to Use: Rub onto stain and the chalk will absorb the grease in the wash.
