Thanksgiving Sentiment Inspired Pillow Tutorial {With a Giveaway}

| |

With the changing of the seasons comes the changing of the pillows in my home. When Fall arrives, I bring out the warm colors and soft velvety fabrics. But you know me,  I’m always on the lookout for a new addition to the collection. While looking through a catalog, I stumbled upon a pillow that was super simple in design but still very inviting. I figured it would only take me about 30 minutes to make it, so I went for it! 🙂

My new Thanksgiving Sentiment Inspired pillow says it all….GATHER.  It’s the perfect addition for the upcoming Thanksgiving season and my living room couch. And trust me, it couldn’t be easier to make.

The first step is to gather your supplies.  I picked out my fabric from the Online Fabric Store.   I choose the Covington Jefferson Linen Greige because I thought it was most similar to my inspiration pillow. For my insert I used a 16×16 Poly-Fil Supreme Pillow Form.  The last thing I needed was some black fabric paint.

I cut my fabric to 18×18 allowing for the sewing seam. After sewing the fabric together and inserting the form it was time to add the sentiment. I decided it would be wise to write the word out in pencil first and use that as my guide for the permanent fabric paint.

Next it was time to get brave with my paint and careful write the word “gather”.

After the paint was dry, I placed my pillow on a soft cozy blanket and stepped back to see the new look. I think it goes perfectly. 🙂

But it also looks pretty good grouped with some warm fall color pillow friends. Decisions, decisions. 🙂

  8. I love the simplicity of this beautiful pillow! I’m not sure I could trust the steadiness of my hand to write that out with paint though. I really did think it was embroidered until I read the post. Thank you for sharing on Family Joy Blog Link-Up Party this week.

  9. It turned out really cute! At first glance I thought it was embroidered and I thought to myself, “I could embroider some letters”. Then I read and it was fabric paint! So. Much. Easier. Hope you’re having a great week!
