Kitchen Remodel Update – New Disposal, Sink and Faucet

|

A big thank you to Moen for sponsoring today’s post. All opinions expressed are 100% my own.

A few months ago, the lovely people at Moen contacted me and asked if I would like to try out one of their new garbage disposals. I was almost certain that our current disposal had probably never been replaced. It was also clogging up almost every week. So it took me all of about five minutes to answer, ” Yes!…I would love to try a Moen garbage disposal!”

It arrived at my home a few weeks later and then sat in my kitchen for over a month in this lovely box just waiting.

My kitchen was just updated with a new Moen GX75c garbage disposal!

What was the hold up? Well, in addition to the garbage disposal, Moen also sent me a new apron sink and faucet! But before all those goodies could be installed I had to do four things. One, remove my old kitchen sink and counter tops. Two, install the new apron sink.  Three, have new counter tops placed back in. And then four, finish the whole process by installing the garbage disposal and faucet. Make sense? I’ve discovered kitchen remodels can sometimes be a sloooow process!  You need lots of patience and paper plates! 😉

So now that my new counter tops where officially installed, we were good to go. My husband has a friend in a plumbing business, so he was kind enough to come over and hook everything up for me. First he started with the garbage disposal…

The great thing about Moen disposals is the Universal Xpress Mount installation system. It fits all Moen and most existing 3-bolt mounting assemblies making it a breeze to install. The disposal also came pre-wired which was fantastic. Just plug it in and grind away to your heart’s content! The compact design is nice feature too because it frees up space underneath the sink. If you have a apron sink…you know that space is very limited under that sink. 😉 I love the power of the Vortex permanent magnet motor. It’s similar to those of power tools– so it immediately starts operating at full speed! The results are finely ground particles that make it hard for the disposal to jam up. And thanks to the soundSHIELD technology, I can turn it on without scaring everyone in the family.

Next the faucet was installed…

Moen sent me the Hayfield Spot Resist stainless faucet. It has two motion sensors on it allowing for a hands free operation. So convenient when cooking and your hands are a mess.

Here’s is a view inside the new stainless steal apron sink….it’s 9 inches deep. You can stack lots of dishes inside this baby! 😉

See….I told you I was making some progress. Slowly but surely! If you are interested in getting yourself a new garbage disposal you can find them online at the Home Depot. Honestly, I love my new garage disposal and with Moen’s warranty with in-home service, there’s really no doubt it’s a great buy.

I can’t wait to show you some more changes to the kitchen.  More updates will be coming soon, so stay tuned!

Do you like the new sink look?

  1. Holy cow, you said yes to garbage disposal and also got apron sink and new faucet? Where do I sign up to start a blog? For all the time I spend on this machine might as well have a blog. But then would have to have projects and something to say a lot of time. Guess not, besides am too lazy, don’t like to be tied down now that family raised, just hub and I. Was fun to think about for little bit.
Your kitchen looks so pretty, especially with new sink, faucet, counter tops and garbage disposal.
Last summer our garbage disposal went out first., then dish washer went kaput, then #3 right after, so we have new garbage disposal, new dish washer much nicer than what was in kitchen, then can’t remember what #3 was, reeling from having to buy all of it on SS budget, lol Ah, life as home owners. We need new counter tops something awful . Have great rest of week

  2. You don’t realize what a necessity a garbage disposals are until it isn’t working. Your kitchen is looking beautiful. I love the faucet and sick too.

  3. Everything looks so sleek and clean – I love it, Laura! I’ve never had a garbage disposal, but I can imagine how handy they would be – especially after those huge family dinners and your sink is full of all sorts of scraps!

  4. Oh my gosh, I would love that SoundSHIELD technology. My disposal is so loud!! Thanks for sharing at the Family Joy Linkup!

  5. I love love that sink! Hun and I have eyed different apron sinks and just this week, I told him that we have to get a single deep sink. This, in essence means, that we won’t be getting anything that’s not an apron sink. But 9in, that’s pretty big and I like it! 🙂

  6. We need a new disposal soon- we will definitely have to look at the ones Moen has to offer! Thank you so much for sharing this with the Get It Together Link Party this past week!

  7. Love your update on the remodel. Love the sink & faucet you put in too. Thanks for sharing at the #InspirationSpotlight party. Pinned & shared. See you again soon.

    1. Thank, Ann! Yes, I did have to get two new cabinet doors for under the sink. I ordered them online, so that was actually pretty easy! 🙂

  8. Where did you order the new sink cabinet doors from? They match the existing doors just fine, which I’m sure you were nervous about as I know I would’ve been. Are the new ones oak, too? I left a comment on another post regarding the tutorial for the sink installation, btw. I can’t seem to find it!
Anywho, it all looks real nice.

P.S. Why’d you install the escutcheon plate (a.k.a., hole cover) under the new faucet? Did you make a mistake when drilling the holes for the faucet or the soap dispenser?

    1. Hi Sam! I’m sorry but I can’t seem to remember where I ordered the cabinet doors- I know it was online and they were shipped to me. So sorry! The reason the escutcheon plate is under the faucet is because the plumber who installed the faucet put it on. I would have really preferred it not be installed but he didn’t ask and I didn’t catch him on install. 🙁 Live and learn.
