How to Make Your Bed Like A Luxury Hotel
Beautiful bedding and a few accessories is all you need to make your bed look and feel like a luxury high-end hotel.

This week is National Make Your Bed Week — did you know that? I shared a sneak peek of our master bedroom makeover earlier this week, but today…I’m talking all about the bedding.
Several months ago, Crane & Canopy offered to send us the most beautiful bedding. Knowing my love for everything grey, I was so excited to get a Grey Border duvet with matching euro shams along with a set of Grey Cloud sheets.
This bedding is the best bedding we have ever owned. The sheets are crispy and yet so very soft. The duvet feels so cozy and comfy when I climb into bed. As if leaving my bed wasn’t already hard enough…now it’s next to impossible! It totally feels like I’m sleeping in a high-end luxury hotel.
Want to make your bed like a high-end luxury hotel too?
I have all the information you need to create a luxurious bed in your home that will not only help you get a better nights sleep BUT encourage you to make your bed every single day because it’s just so dang gorgeous!
set it-
When it comes to a luxurious bed you need fantastic sheets. You want to look for the highest-quality cotton, woven in a 300+ thread count and preferably in a sateen weave– just like Crane and Canopy’s. I love how they’ve cut the high prices when it comes to buying bedding. So now you can sleep in the most luxurious bedding at affordable prices.
It’s common when making a bed to first secure your fitted sheet and then lay a flat sheet down on top. But I don’t! We haven’t slept with a top sheet in— well, I believe like over ten years. We just use our duvet as our top sheet. Not only do we sleep more comfortably without the top sheet, but making the bed is just so much easier. I shake the duvet out, smooth, fold and done!
layer it-
Luxury bedding is known for its many layers. They may seem unnecessary, but in actuality layers are the key to style and comfort — providing instant temperature control. In the summer months, I prefer 100% cotton for more lightweight layers. In the winter, I add a coverlet to layer over the duvet. Even in summer months, I love folding an extra comforter in thirds and laying it on the duvet at the foot of the bed. It instantly gives the bed a more luxurious feel even though we won’t be using it while sleeping.
mix it-
Luxury beds have plenty of plush pillows. The more the better in my opinion! 😉 For a king bed, I suggest using three euro pillows. But on a queen or full, two is all you need along with your sleeping pillows. Lastly are the throw pillows. I like the combination of two large pillows with a smaller one in front. But really, the combination of pillows here is endless.
For one final touch of luxury, I like to add a super soft throw. Perfect for a little nap or a cozy reading escape.
So with just a few minutes in your day and a few lovely accessories, it’s easy to make your bed beautiful and comfortable. And my last little tip: when nothing is going right…just go to bed. 😉
Do you have a source on the black and white pillows?
I do, Trish! Here’s the link to where I bought mine. http://rstyle.me/n/cri8v3x8f6 (aff)
Good tips! I love a freshly made bed. Meaning I like it when my husband does it 😀
That is awesome, Amy! How do I get my hubby to do that?! 😉
This looks amazing! pinning now!
Thank you, Linda! 🙂
Thank you for including the pillow count for queen-size beds as well! I love the rug beneath the bed. Our carpet and walls are beige. Would you have a source for a white rug with a beige accent?
I am glad the pillow count was helpful, Robin! And yes, I do have a link for the rug under the bed: http://rstyle.me/~9Z5mf (aff). Hope that helps! 🙂
Whose lights are those?
Those wall scones are beautiful! You can find them here: http://rstyle.me/n/cqzit6x8f6 (aff) Hope that helps! 🙂
