This Is What Every Quality Hall Bathroom Renovation Needs

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of VELUX Skylights. All opinions are 100% mine.

Our hall bathroom renovation would not be complete without adding natural light, fresh air and a view of the sky! See a space I’ve never shared before and the new vision I have for this room.

In the three and half years we have lived in our home there is one room that I’ve never altered. No paint changes, no new fixtures, nothing. It’s exactly like the previous owners left it. My mind has so many ideas for this space. It’s been really hard to pin-point my vision. Today I finally put my dreams for our hall bathroom renovation onto a mood board. Mood boards are a great way to organize your ideas for a room. If you’ve never created one before remodeling, I challenge you to try it!

Before I share with you how I would transform this bathroom here are never-before-seen pictures of what the room looks like presently.

Let’s not also forget the fact of how dark and dreary this room is with no windows. Even though this hall bathroom renovation is a small space, I know this space has so much potential. It needs a whole lot of love and a ton of new light. So now that you’ve seen the bathroom, let’s take a look at how this room could look completely different!

Slate Floors

Currently our bathroom has cheap linoleum floors that have seen much better days.  I would absolutely love to replace them with a rich gray slate floor. To me stone just instantly makes a space feel rich and adds a deep contrast.  Against the gorgeous dark flooring foundation, all the other accessories are going to pop! Since this area is on the smaller side, it would be extremely affordable and easy to add a beautiful stone floor.  Just look at the amazing flooring below in my inspiration photo…

The wood vanity with it’s rustic and modern wood style will complement the stone flooring. The contrast between the deep rich gray and the clean white tiles I’m planning for the next step is already making my heart leap with joy. Yes, bathroom tiles can do that to this lady!

Combination Walls

You know I’m a lover of subway tile. So I would replace all the tile in the shower with a white subway tile and a light gray grout. And the shower doesn’t get to have all the fun!  I would continue to tile around the bathroom three-fourths of the way up the wall.  Above the tile I would wallpaper a beautiful floral pattern. Something like this picture below….

The wallpaper and tile are the perfect background for accessories like a rectangular black steel mirror and gorgeous black sconces. And because I love mixing metals, I would incorporate chrome fixtures for the shower, sink, and towel holders. You may think that you’ve see all this renovation has to offer, but I’m saving the best for last!

Skylight Above

Installing a skylight into this hall bathroom would be an absolute dream come true. The most critical key component to this whole transformation is the new skylight. Our bathroom is dark and gloomy. Bring on all that glorious sunlight!  The contrast of every detail in the room from the gray flooring to the white tile, would shine a little brighter and appear truer. And it’s all because of the power of natural light! You can see what I mean in my inspiration below…

VELUX No Leak Solar Powered Fresh Air Skylights would also add a lovely calming spa-like feature to the bathroom. I love that it opens! Fresh air can come into the house and release all the warm air that rises after a hot shower. Plus the skylight’s remote controlled blinds can instantly change the lighting from dark to bright. That’s why I even included a live plant on my mood board. I would love to be able to keep a real fern in our bathroom year around in Colorado!

If you have a window-less room like I do, I definitely would suggest considering a VELUX skylight.
