Design Plan for the Master Bedroom
“You are either in your bed or in your shoes, so it pays to invest in both.” -John Wildsmith
__________
In our last home, the master bedroom never received any special attention. It was often last on the list or just plain forgotten when making our house a home. We had leftover, miss matched dressers, no bed furniture with bare walls and no design to be seen. I guess it’s pretty common to neglect this space because how often does your family or friends see it? Hardly ever. So who cares what it looks like right? Nope. We’ve been in this house almost two years now and I’ve already updated like at least five different rooms. But…not our bedroom. So it’s time. I have a design plan for the master bedroom that is going to create a space of style, comfort and coziness. It will be a grown up bedroom with real furniture and elegant bedding. And I’m pretty sure I’m going to love it and I know the hubby will too.
For you to truly appreciate the transformation of this room, I want to share with you the realtor listing photo of the master bedroom. Behold…the red bedroom.
This room was stuck in the 90’s for sure. I will tell you, on the first day we took possession of the house I took down those lace curtains. Oh yea. It was like months before we got any new ones, but I didn’t care. I hated them!
So fast forward two years to present day. For the first time in our marriage (15 years mind you!) we have a real bed. I snagged it on sale last year and I’ve been loving it ever since! I also just received some new bedding. But this bedding deserves it’s own post because it’s the most quality bedding I’ve ever slept on! So soft. More to come about that later!
Another addition to our bedroom is this new bench that was on a super sale. I’ve always wanted a foot bench, it just seems so elegant and yet very functional.
Just to give you a little visual, here’s a sneak peek I shared on my Instagram last week…
Big change, right?! Yes, I’ve also painted the walls. I chose a soft grey by Sherwin Williams called Lazy Grey because that’s exactly what I want this space to be….lazy. Comfy. Never want to leave. What had to leave was that red and brown. See ya! But I’m not done…I still need to paint all the trim white and add a few more accessories.
Here’s what I’m thinking my final design plan for the bedroom will be.
Design Plan for Master Bedroom

Neutral, cozy, classic and serene. There will be lots of texture and pops of green. I love my creams and grays…always have and probably always will. For the bedroom, I want a space that just says…”Stay”.
