A Clean Home Flourishes A Creative Mind
A big thank you to Perk, who sponsored today’s post. While this was a sponsored opportunity, all content and opinions expressed here are my own.
Another day, another spill to wipe away. Two young boys in the house means this mom is already outnumbered. So what’s my plan of action for keeping a clean home? First, always be stocked with good cleaning supplies. And secondly, teach them how to be proactive and clean up after themselves. I’m set on supplies. Any takers on the teaching part?
You may think that since I work from home, our house is always clean. Believe me, I wish that was the reality! But with two boys who aren’t always aware of their messes, things can get pretty dirty around here despite my efforts.
And a big part of my job (as you know) is being creative. When our home is messy and all I see are a ton of things that need to get cleaned, I can get so distracted. Eventually, I have to stop working and clean because I can’t focus on anything else. Are you the same way? Do you find a messy home or work place distracts you from doing your best creative work?
So when Perk reached out asking if they could help me clean my home and keep the creativity flowing, I was like — yes. Yes you can. You are totally speaking my love language!
But then I was like, wait. Why should I be the only one enjoying the cleaning fun? So I decided to take a lead from Perk and put a fun spin on the cleaning. The former teacher in me came up with a couple cute ‘cleaning’ sayings and I recruited the boys to help as well!
Our first cleaning must have…paper towels!
Paper towels are essential in our household. I’d say the boys use a ton of them but actually I think Chris uses them most. He tears off about four at a time and I’m like why so many for that little drop of a spill. But that’s another story for another post! 😉
So when the boys have a small accident, I remind them to be proactive. A little saying even helps, ‘No Whine, It’s Dry Time.’ Those simple five little words help them to hop up and get those tiny spills all cleaned by themselves.
And when the last paper towel is gone, they have learned how to replace them for their dear mother. Rather cutely I might add! 😉
Our second cleaning tool….hand sanitizer.
Besides keeping the house clean, those boys need a few reminders to keep their hands clean as well. I’ve totally lost count of the amount of times I’ve told them, ‘Don’t touch that.’ Or how many times I’ve asked, ‘Why did you touch that?!’ 😉
So after they finish their kitchen chores they do a little high five dance with some Perk High Five Anytime Hand Sanitizer. Our little saying here goes, ‘Let’s jive and then– high five!’ It’s such a great way to have a little fun and clean all the germs on those boys hands.
I know a clean and clutter free home helps me be more productive — no doubt. And I’m sure it’s helping my boys too. Plus they are learning how to be more responsible for their own little messes and keeping our home cleaner. Those always a win!
These are just a couple of Perk products that we love and use. Be sure to check out all of them! They’re sure to help you work more productively whether you work from home or at the office. And it’s some of the most clever packaging I have ever seen — like their cups can handle the heat! 😉
