Basement Office/Family Room Design Board
It’s time to make some changes to our basement. See lots of inspiration behind my new basement office/family room design!
2020 has been the year of changes – no doubt. One of the biggest changes for most families with little ones is the schooling situation. We were actually homeschooling last year but I only had a 7th grader. Now I have an 8th grader and a kindergartener! So, we need an area that is free of distractions and can be exclusively used for schooling. And where is that place in our home? I finally decided it’s our unused basement. So I’ve been on the hunt in Pinterest to help give me ideas on ways to create a basement office/family combo that will serve all our needs and hopefully be stylish too.
First, let me show you all the gorgeous family desk/office areas I found.
Starting everything off with this beauty. Love the built-in look and the little table area right behind the desks. This is a school set up dream come true!
Here’s another built in desk that lines the walls in a u-shaped form in this bonus room home design. I need this bonus room in my house! Actually, I would take a couple bonus rooms for our home. 🙂
Love this built in wall desk with all the high bookcases. So much beautiful storage right here!
This wall desk set up is really nice too! I just need to expanded it for one more person. But it’s giving me some good ideas!
So after seeing all that inspiration, I finally got some ideas together and decided on the look for our basement.
Here’s my basement office/family room design mood board.
calendar | plant | sconce | shelves | storage box | butcher block counter top | desk drawers | chair | couch | black pillow | plaid pillow | coffee table | vase | eucalyptus | paint color: repose gray
So, I hope to make some big progress on this space over the next week or so. First I have a to knock out a triangular shelf and patch the wall. And that means I’m going to learn how to drywall soon. Always learning over here. 🙂 But that’s how I can hopefully inspire you along the way too. (Check out my Instgram stories to see what I mean and follow along in the transformation process!)
So did you have to get creative with your school situation this year?
Thank you for this! I can’t wait to see your next post(s). (I’m a mama to an unexpectedly home-schooling preschooler.)
Oh yea! I hope to give you some very doable, creative ways to make a home-schooling area in your home. 🙂 More to come!
