And Then There Were 3….

For the past two and half weeks, we have had company in our home. First, my sister came to visit.

We ventured out on lots of shopping trips, like my special trip to IKEA.  And managed to even squeeze in a trip to the salon. It was a nice time to catch up and talk.

Then on the same day that my sister jetted home, our friends rolled in.

We enjoyed hikes in the mountains, playing card games and yes, a little more shopping!

It was fun to catch up and enjoy some laughs and some dinners out!

But now I sit in my quiet house, missing everyone. (sigh)

The new energy that company brings can be very intoxicating. I can get in such a routine, that sometime my everyday energy is low. Almost lifeless at times. I laugh less.  I am  less polite and thoughtful of others. I stay on the same path doing the same things.

But company gives you an opportunity to throw the routine out the window and fly by the seat of your pants. Cook something new. Use the new place mats. Discover new mountain hikes. Try new restaurants. Stay up late. Play card games. Laugh.

On this Thankful Thursday, I am thankful for our family and friends. I am thankful that they took the time to venture out of their day-to-day routines to bless our lives. I am thankful for memories. And I am also thankful for the reminder to not get so stuck in a routine and to try new opportunities as they come.

And most of all, I am thankful for the lesson to be appreciative of those around me. For they won’t always be there.
