The Advent Calendar: 25 Days of Books

I have been in search of the perfect advent calendar to do with my son. I have seen many amazing ideas out there in blogland, but I think I finally found the perfect one for our family.

 
My son loves to read books. So this advent calendar is perfect for him on many levels. The idea is to take 25 books (Christmas themed) and wrap them up. Then every night before bed, my son can pick out a wrapped book to read. I placed all the wrapped books in a basket next to the Christmas tree. After we read the book, we place it back into the basket to read at anytime throughout the day.


Now, please don’t think you have to run out and buy 25 books. I had a nice stash of books from my teaching years, but I also checked out some from the library. So half are books from around the house and the other half are books from the library. That way Sebastian will unwrap books that are brand new to him and they didn’t cost me a dime!! Love it!!

I have to say, my son is really loving this calendar!! He gets so excited to pick out a book and even more excited to unwrap it!! I hope to make this a tradition in my family for years to come.
